I remember seeing this on IFC channel back in 2001 at some point. It was on late at night and was a very good movie as I could not stop watching it. It is a tear jerker. It had an interesting atmosphere and aura to it which was kind of haunting in a way like that 70's movie Mahogany era type stuff. Good movie.

oh my goodness.... i used to borrow this from my 3rd grade teacher in 1993.
wow....
i remember i thought it was the weirdest but most touching movie. and i was 8 !!!
