AVON —Workers at nearby businesses rushed out to help two people seriously hurt in a two vehicle collision on Bodwell Street Tuesday morning.
A woman driving a sports utility vehicle and the driver of a AAA tow truck were taken to Boston hospitals for treatment, fire Capt. Kevin Foster said.
The names of the injured were not immediately released.
Foster said an ambulance had been driving along the street after responding to an earlier call of a person suffering from flu-like symptoms and came upon the scene.
After the collision, the SUV swerved into a utility pole, knocking it down.. The tow truck came to a stop up the street. Police and firefighters shut down a section of the street amid fears someone could be injured because of the downed wires.
Utility crews were at the scene this morning.
