Just the boot up from my first Storage Server.
It's a Supermicro one.
Based on the X7BSE with a Xeon Dual Core 775 3Ghz and 8GB DDR2 ECC.
Disk space total are 12TB. 8x 1,5TB Seagate at RAID6 on an Adaptec 5805.
A single 750GB S-ATA disk is used for the OS.
The 2 onboard NICs and the Intel Server PCIe X1 NIC are running together in SLA mode with a transfer rate of 3Gb.

  • I thought my AMD server was loud! The E350 has a nice hum

  • 12 drive raid right? I've bought two 2216 opteron processors, 8 gigs ram ddr2 pc5300. I want to install linux mint on it. Anyway, I have so far spent $1000 without buying winblows server 2008 r2 or anything like that. it looks like I'm going to spend quite a bit more to buy the empty rack. but previously I was going to sell it for $1500, now I'm thinking as customizable as this thing is, I should sell it no less then 2 grand the effort I'm putting into it. well maybe I'm over shooting it.

  • lol that really does sound like a boeing. I have this problem I bought a super micro h8qme-2 motherboard, and just realized I bought the wrong tower. it's dimensions are 13"x16". I don't think it will fit in any tower enclosure. However, these emtpy racks are like $600!!! CMON! I know my board can fit 32 gigs ram, etc. etc. I have so far bought two sata hard drives, one 1terabyte, another 250 gigs. pretty decent file size storage ability, but that's just so far, yeah these things can perform

  • WTF. That thing is more louder than the corn factories I live near by!

  • ich will auch....btw der adaptec bzw dessen anzeigen sind echt win =)

  • aloha cherie, habe zwar keine ahnung, was du da machst, hört sich aber sehr spacig an :-))
