  • boris karloff was a genius. r.i.p.

  • Damn! First she has him whipped, and then she got him taken into her room so she can rape him! Wow! And Fu Manchu comes by and like, "sorry daughter, I don't mean to interrupt your usual rape of unconscious men, but I still need to borrow him for something......" LOL! This is very, very funny!

  • He is not unhandsome. (The Doctor) For a White man.

  • @TheTrippybutterfly "THIS IS MY MECCA!"

  • Wow... Karloff, as always, is supreme... what for anyone else (with the possible exception of Lugosi), would be "campiness" is, for him, "naturalism."

Karloff and Myrna Loy, even in the same movie? Worth the price of admission.

And, considering how lurid, how sordid, how pre-Code all of this is, the dialogue between father and daughter is almost on a level with Coward or Wilde.

    Wow.

  • classic BORIS KARLOFF...UNIVERSAL STUDIOS loaned KARLOFF to MGM for this production..at this time BORIS KARLOFF, was probably the biggest star in hollywood..KARLOFF, tall with that prevalent lisp was the prominent figure of sadistic evil here..but this movie is camp..high camp.."where you'll be taken to the room of the slim silver fingers".

  • @odannyboj The Flash Gordon newspaper strip by Alex Raymond debuted in 1932. You're thinking of the great movie serial Flash Gordon starring Buster Crabbe.

  • @Zacatown This is 1932, Gordon was 4 yrs. later...

  • Karloff is so over the top he becomes a champ.

  • Damn I feel reborn. Actually got to watch a vid with no political correctness and I didn't feel put down any when Fu says.."Not bad for a white man"

  • The whole series, written by Sax Rohmer, was w whole mishmash of silliness. I got a bang from the books from 2nd hand bookshops.

Same with the John of Mars, and real Tarzan series written by Edger Rice Burroughs. Those were stupendous!
