Quarterfinals = 24 couples.

Semifinals = 12 couples

@AceyBlade I think the title of this video is correct. There are only 6 couples in each heat so this is the semifinals. I wish that the Philippines has a representative in this competition.

While it's apples to oranges when it comes to individual style in this competition the technical and musical merits of the Canadian couple were far above the Austrian.

Oh, and as for the class I dance in. It's the same as these couples.

In Canada the number of competitors is relatively small in each province, There may be three to ten couples dancing to qualify for the national competition depending where you live.

Even the international competitions held in Canada aren't that large (yet, they are growing) and for that reason Canadian couples have no restriction on competing around the world.
