The Call of Life Facing the Mass Extinction is a video documentary produced by the Species Alliance and narrated by Peter Coyote; featuring a stellar list of scientists and researchers, that explores the significant and very real impact the actions of human beings are having on our living planet earth and our biodiversity.

Its estimated half of all species of plants and animals living today will be extinct in less than 100 years.

Biodiversity simply put is a measure of an ecosystem or natural system featuring (life-forms) plants, animals, and living microorganisms that are functioning and living together with the non living physical factors of the environment : A rainforest, coral reef, or a desert, are all examples of ecosystems; which when all put together is collectively known as the biodiversity of the earth.

The beautiful, incredible, and absolutely essential biodiversity of the earth is being threatened by the actions of human beings; such as de-forestation, pollution of the oceans, over-fishing, climate change, and selfish and ignorant actions by humans which are having devastating and irreversible effects on the environment.

Such as drag or bottom trawling which removes entire marine ecological systems of coral reef on the ocean floor, which when removed will not come back; and because the devastating actions of human beings have significantly altered the earths ecosystems, scientists are beginning to call it the mass extinction

These critical issues facing our planet are a very serious cause for concern and if our apathy and selfish actions towards our living planet continues, who knows what could happen???

While the actions of governments and big business are critical to reversing the trend, its also the small positive individual actions of all us which accumulates to one big positive change to our planet. Such as not trashing our planet and showing respect for it.

The earths biodiversity is essential to our survival, yours and my home, and without it were in big trouble.
