I have had several requests to play more of the work of Joe Hisaishi, so here goes! Joe Hisaishi (久石 譲, Hisaishi Jō)is the professional name of Mamoru Fujisawa (藤澤 守, Fujisawa Mamoru), born in 1950, the Japanese composer and pianist best known for his many film scores. This piece comes from his score for the 1988 Studio Ghibli anime 'My Neighbor Totoro' about the daughters of a Japanese professor and their interaction with various magical woodland inhabitants. One of these is the Catbus - which as its name suggests, is a bus in the form of a living cat that can appear and disappear at will. I believe this piece is scored for guitar, but I am playing from a 2005 published piano arrangement. The piece seems to look back to 1950s rock and roll and boogie woogie, and is quite 'catchy'..
