How to make a hydrogen balloon.wmv

This video shows how to make a hydrogen filled balloon with materials bought at any supermarket.
You have to be careful when you make this, because there are several dangers:

1: The bottle gets hot because of the process.
2: The liquid is dangerous, don't get it on you, it will sear your skin.
3: NEVER EVER put the lid on, or the bottle will EXPLODE. Searing liquid explosion.
4: It's always a good idea to wear safety gloves and safety goggles.

so mistakes like sodium hydroxide no natrium and liquid isnt acid it is alkali which is completly different

@petoknm Well natrium hydroxide is kind of the danish word for it, so I assumed it would be the same in english. :) No, it isn't acid, but it's still highly corrosive.

the "liquid" is not acid :| is base and is corosive .... is NaOH or sodium hidroxid

DO NOT put freezing cold water like these people have done, This makes the reaction take about 5-10 hours. Without the cold water, the bottle will get hot, but it won't even get cloose to melting (I've done this myself). Just put regular temperature water

it would be a much nicer explosion if you blew a little bit of air into the balloon first.

You are suppossed to do this at night. Use a huge balloon and a long thread of sheet. Put gasoline or something all along the sheet with someone holding onto the balloon. when you light the sheet, tell the person to let go of the balloon. The balloon will start to rise and the sheet will be like a fuse. Once it gets up to the balloon it will be like the sun. A ball of fire[: Have fun!

You have to tape the fuse to the side of the balloon. You also need to use a good quality fuse to make sure it melts the balloon wall.
