Adventure Tour Operators of India (ATOAI) has initiated a cleaning up operation of the Nun Kun Peaks in Kargil.
In this connection, two teams of ATOAI each one from Leh and Srinagar left today for Zanskar, Kargil for cleaning up the twin peaks where, according to them the adventure tourists visit every year during summer and lot of waste material is dumped in the area.
The team from Srinagar comprised two adventure climbers namely Firdous Khan and Shauky Putoo. The team was flagged off from TRC here by Farooq Shah, Director Tourism, Kashmir & Chairman of H&OC of ATOAI in presence of the Officers of Tourism department and the representatives of travel trade from J&K Tourism Alliance, TAAK, KHAROF and ATOAI, a statement here said. The teams from Srinagar and Leh will return Srinagar on September 12 and handover a project report to Chief Minister at the Inauguration Day function of ATOAI at SKICC.
