A highlight of the evening concert of the Patsy Cline Symposium presented by the VA. Historical Society in Richmond, April 4, 2008. Some songs and some of Patsy's true friends, George Hamilton IV (4) and this helluva man made the night special. I've already posted the wonderful covers of Patsy classics from this show, so here's Jimmy. Will put a long piece of Donna Meade Dean and Jimmy telling stories up next. Brad Spivey and The Honky Tonk Experience back up Jimmy. Rest in peace, Jimmy.

Now back when country was country and king the music was pure and fun to sing we didn't need rock or to sound real mean there was a hell of a guy named Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean. He made you smile and could make you cry and he always had that twinkle in his eye there was something special how he made you feel cause his songs were honest and he was real Jimmy Dean. This was a RAP song!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it as a kid and love it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rap actually was invented in the 30's and it was called bee-bop but these idiot thugs have fucked it up today with that gangster image crap! Shame!

FYI...this was the last time he performed this in public...I am the drummer in the video. Jimmy was always so complimentary of us and one of our big supporters. To see him show up in a club where there are 80 people was very cool of him.

...and funny too when we rehearsed this a few days before ...I keep waiting for that video to post...

RIP Big Bad John... At 79 years old he was still full piss and vinegar and as big as life as "Big Bad John" was.... They just dont make em like this much anymore... I tip my young hat to the man... Thanks for this video..
