I went there today, you cannot see everything in one day it just isn't possible.
My advice would be start at the top or 4th floor and make your way down.
Best part is they have alcohol in the food court for sale!

A GREAT museum. Never tire of it.
Not about the AMNH, but this posted video, “40 Years in 3 Minutes” takes a look at some NYC moments in history while synched to The Beatles’ GET BACK and GLASS ONION. Also includes some 8mm film antics from 1971. Enjoy.
