http://noahskitchen.org - The goal of the Houston SleepOut is to allow the general population to contribute to the fight against homelessness, while giving participants a small glimpse into a night in the life of the more than 12,000 local people who suffer from homelessness nightly.
We met at Caroline Collective then held a candlelight walk and passed out blankets during the evening.
We had the pleasure of Tyagaraja and Mason Lankford playing acoustic sets for us later in tte evening and also a special treat of the Founder of #HSOS, Noah Rattler to speak with us on his 1800 mile journey and vision for eleminating homelessness and hunger.
We took part in the citywide event by sleeping on the ground outside- to both become and raise awareness.
We had coffee provided by Katz Coffee and breakfast donated by the 20K group.
And of course you know we brought our Sunday to a close by having our usual handout =)
Thank you to all who helped, provided, came, and supported us in raising awareness.
I’m so proud of everyone bearing the elements and sleeping outside on a cold night. What we did was just a brief glimpse of what people go through every night but it was very touching and eye opening and I hope that inspires others to get out there and lend a hand. While some people go out and eat at 5 star restaurants other are on the streets looking for any scraps to get them through the night. God bless every volunteer that is fighting to help and make a difference.
