Ben gibbard wrote this song for The Postal Service but Sam Beam covered it for TPS's ep just like The Shins covered "we will become sillouhettes." its also in the movie Garden State but i think it was made for TPS's ep first.

No, Ben Gibbard wrote the song while he was in The Postal Service, then Sam Beam wrote an acoustic cover for the movie Garden State. Ben Gibbard was referring to the acoustic version when he said that Sam Beam wrote it.
