  • "even we don't know anything about theory and stuff....but this is a combination of lydian mode and phrygian dominant...and ends with a diminished run starting on F." lol, No theory knowledge? riiiiiight

  • One of the best and only riffs on the album. Just because its not major scale doesnt mean its ugly. Your ears need tuning.

  • stop 0.23 ME GUSTA!

  • @fru1tbooter14 i think what he meant was that Mikael doesn't write based on theory because Mikael basicaly knows none. in a lesson once, he was asked, "what chord is that?' and he replied "i don't know but i use it all the time" Fredrik is more of a theory oriented player but he mainly uses it for breaking riffs down rather than writing.

  • @fru1tbooter14 I think he meant to say that they don't know everything about theory ha ha. Though I think Frederik probably knows more about it than Mikael since I think Frederik did some formal training in the past and also taught guitar to students.

  • @DerekBallesty I think the major key sounds ugly lol (not including the other modes of it)

  • that 'F' on 1:30 made him spit himself...

  • @adarkerlight minor add 9 chord

  • @hemmelight I can't remember the name of the chord, but Åkerfeldt said in some old (Blackwater Park years) interview that was one of his favorite chords. The very first chord in The Drapery Falls is the same style. And it *is* a great chord.

  • @fru1tbooter14: I'm pretty sure he meant Mikael (songwriter) but didn't want to shoff off with his personal knowledge of theory. :)

  • @DerekBallesty who are you defending this riff against exactly? the video has 11,237 views and only 7 people bothered to dislike it.
