Splash potions don't seem to work on SMP, really disappointed when I had to kill 400 zombies by hand after wasting 3 instant damamge splash potions...

@E1p0tat0k1ng Lol, instant damage makes zombies and skeletons regenerate health. For zombies and skeles you have to use health regen potion to kill the zombies. You use Instant damage(harming) for spiders, not sure if it works for blaze.

Just a tip for the splash potions, (if you didn't know this already) if you have any undead mob the potion of harming will heal them, and potion of healing will damage them.

@E1p0tat0k1ng slash potions do work on servers! You said you used instant damage on the zombies right? Well instant damage doesn't harm undead (zombies & skeletons) you need to use instant health! :P I hope this helps and if you dont believe me you can check on the Wiki! :D
