... 35 years ago today... Kerry Livgren, Robby Steinhardt & Rich Williams are interviewed right after Kansas' legendary 1976 Halloween performance at the Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh, PA. I mixed in the only known footage of the band from the Leftoverture era (1976).
Btw, this entire show was broadcast live at the time and is nowadays available for free as an excellent sounding double CD set called "Mayhem Symphony" (PRRP018). In addition to the music it contains this interview as well as the opening act Ambrosia. Search for it on the regular live music sites.
Not known to many: there was a second opening act this evening: Head East. Their lead singer at the time was John Schlitt, who would later go on and become the lead singer of the christian rock band Petra. Their first album (and many others) with John as their singer was produced by John Elefante, who had in years prior been the lead singer of... Kansas!
Thanks for uploading this. Quite interesting material for all us Wheatheads out here in the cyberplains. Going to look for that double cd you mentioned in the description. Long Live Kansas!
