I added a usb wireless network card to the guts inside my regular USB mouse. This video has had many confused people commenting on what I've made - The point is to make a single device with the abilities of a few devices.

I freakin hate wireless keyboards and mice, that's NOT what I've made. It's a normal mouse that hides a wireless network card inside of it!

Here's my project page on this: http://www.dawning.ca/projects/mouse/

So in this video I show what I did to get a wireless network card inside my mouse. The only crummy part is the mouse gets kind of warm now, but I personally don't really care.

that is so smart. Do you have a instruction video. But I'm thinking does a usb 2.0 have the power for wireless and mouse on one cord? I did not know that I'm also thinking your not using a wireless N for that takes more power

    - it is an 802.11g card, so you're right, it's not an 802.11n.

If I plug it in to a USB port on a computer, then it works just fine. If I plug it in to a USB hub, there doesn't seem to be enough power for two hubs, the mouse and the wireless.

its sad how many people dont understand what this mouse does. it connects his computer to the INTERNET wirelessly, while still being a mouse, and only using one usb port. Very cool mod :p

It's something that one can do in Linux. Not sure how you'd get that to work in Windows or OSX.

You might also throw in a toggle switch or two to disable usb mass storage or your radio if you really need something temporarily disabled.

jamessnell. this hardware mod will work the same way as long as you have the drivers available for both platforms. kinda the same thing with roxing old school Xbox controllers. just splicing into the main USB bus like this.

you know, the only flaw with this, is what if you stored data on the flash drive inside the mouse, and you wanted to use it somewhere else, but you were on someone else's computer, and didn't want to actually use the mouse OR the wireless device? having the wireless device could cause interference if the computer already had a wireless device installed and is using it. plus it'd be a hassle to copy the data to the computer, then back again once done using it.

Good Device Idea Though, I Like It!
