  • Killer video thanks so much for sharing. Great explanation of drift fishing. I too prefer a trolling motor to control my drift. I thought the graphics were really very cool. The American Catter, Rich Johnson

  • thanks!!! i do however get a little more percise when i pull a drift but i thought this mite get some folks a general idea and get thm started

  • God damn! 49lbs took 3rd???

We use a drift sock, some ppl call it a sea anchor. Keeps the wind from blowing your boat to fast when drifting. Works good on the lake, wouldn't use it in a river though. Some folks use a 5G bucket with holes drilled in it for the same purpose.

We use bait casters so we like to turn the magnet up a little so that when wakes hit the boat the rocking doesn't cause the clicker to go off and the line to spool out.

Awesome vid. What did you use to draw the graphics?

  • well 49lber was my kicker fish. i too 3rd with a total weight of like 187lbs. the 49 lber took big fish for the tournament.i use my trollin motor to pull a contrloled drift, when i first strarted drift fishin about 4 years ago i also tryed the bucket and drift sock but they just got in my way.

bait clickers are baaaaaddd!!! i dont use them, i find i catch more fish without them.

  • I like this video a lot, what do you use for bait, cut shad mainly?

  • Thank you akwalung for sharing.. : ) Thank you also for such a great simple well to follow video on how to drift fish.. : ) I live up on the Mo. River and LOVE catching those Monster Cats on Rod N Reel so I can shoot them (with a camera..lol ) and turn them back loose to fight once again !

  • nice!!!

  • piece of advice for people using these bobbers and big boppers. The advice is make sure you are using strong enough line. If you use anything under 15lb test line you take the chance of your line breaking when throwing out the bobber.

  • would you mind explaining what is wrong with using bait clickers. is it better to fish tight line or just loosen the drag, let fish run and tighten gradually? thanks
