My grandfather was a Tunisian Jew and went to school in Cairo and the American University....and did his post grad work in Paris. He later lived in Melbourne Aulstralia...and his children lived in Jerusalem, Philadelphia and Chicago...all of which he visited later in life.
He always said Baghdad in the 1950s was the most vibrant and alive place he ever lived, and the people were the most tolerant, liberal and welcoming.
