@Mumbi42: no. Not a Man. IAAF left her the medal. She has probably some intersex condition, maybe AIS: Chromosomes XY, male karyotype, but since this condition comes with insensitivity for androgen hormones, the body does not develop as fully male body. So she could not start as a man in athlethics, since she is no man. I agree that she appears not as a female, but she qualifies as a women according to IAAF-regulations, and that is what counts in athletics at the moment. Tricky case, though!

Hermaphrodites should NOT compete against women! They are men with a vagina!! They need thier own division. How would you like to be a professional woman runner... train day after day, year after year... and toe the line with someone who has 4X the testosterone you have?

If not to run with the women in this competition then who is she to run with? The men? No she doesn't fit into their category of gender. You should seriously re-evaluate your frame of mind. We have yet to make a category for those that are not in the binary system! Until we do, there will always be people like castor that defy the system and I hope they do! She needs to b recognized for her skill and ability not because of her chromosomes!

I find that anyone who isn't accepting of a person because they were born in a gender that defys society has a small parameter in what they think gender is in society. She was a fantasitc runner who was humiliated by the media. She is not a man because she a)wasn't raised as one b) she doesn't feel or look like one (she looks like a runner) and c)who are you to tell her who the hell she or isn't?

@izzymohh: coming back to your comment after a year - in the meantime the IAAF decided to let Caster keep her medal - and I still like your comment! She was/is an eye-opener, made me research Intersex conditions and learn a lot about sex and gender. Conclusion: not a clear case, ever!! Nature is not either-or, it comes in all facettes....
