  • Is it just me or are all the live rank songs way better than their studio versions

  • Listen. I've been through just about every phase a guitarist can go through. My list of favourite players has included the likes of Slash, George Harrison, Greg Howe, Jimmy Raney, Pat Martino, and Alan Murphy, just to give you the idea.

Nobody beats Marr. And it's because he writes the best guitar parts I've ever heard. His songwriting ability is immense, and his growth is evident. Just watch him now, with The Cribs! He's different, yet the same, and it's all just too good.

  • I wish youngsters who rave about so much crap ( awesome this and awesome that nonsense) and as for those who think music is no more than Simon Cowell (l my blood pressure is rising now) could listen to this. Maybe then they would realise what real and precious music truly is.Morrissey/ Marr are legends who deserve more widespread acclaim.Anyone who loves music should know this but when I mention the smiths to fellow musicians or people at work they look at me as if they've never heard of them

  • Marr is badass songwriter

  • Johnny Marr at 1:14 literally just made my day :)

  • Gambini for President!

  • @wisesatyr72 - Yeah I guess that's it. There's a certain uplifting quality to this music and the guitar style adds a real wash of color over it. Marrs' playing sounds a bit influenced from Caribbean or African music (like Paul Simon but different.)

Anyway I'm committed to going back and exploring classic Smiths.

  • @TubeFreakJonas Marrs plays like one melody on atop of another. his style is very complicated. Some People dont realized what a genius guitar player he is. Probaly because of Moz prancing. lol

  • @wisesatyr72 - what I like about this is he doesn't really play solos OR chords, he plays music! Some of the best guys do (Andy Summers in The Police for example, or Billy Duffy playing early Cult stuff on Live at The Lyceum.) You aren't noticing the guitar playing as much as going 'Damn, I like how this music makes me feel."

  • Absolutely Timeless!!! ;) X

  • I love The Smiths and I love Johnny!!
