Christ became a Jew to fulfill the law that man was unable to follow. That is why we worship Him. It is only through Him that we are worthy. He first came to the Jews however the Jews rejected Him, relying on the laws of man which had so perverted the simplicity of the intent of the law that Jews were worshipping the "legal system" rather than God.
The entire message of God is John 3:16. That's why Christ came, to simplify the path to God!
