  • Yes, this all looks very pretty right now. But we're spending how many millions on this unessential project when schemes such at the student RAT card are supposedly getting scrapped?

The council needs to get it's priorities right. The future of it's youth population, or making Redcar's sea front look 'attractive'.

  • Boo! Should have built a traditional pier - like Saltburn. Total waste of money!

  • not to mention drive down yearby bank and look what you see??? yes coatham church the coatham hotel and just below them and just over the chimney stacks is a fuked up money laundering so called tower. the helter skelter at bounmouth is 90 ft and geuss what kids use it

  • Its nice to see Redcar getting EU funding to redevelop with initiative new ideas, with out this funding there would be redevelopment. :) so its nice to see new ideas been put into effect.

  • I live at Redcar seafront. Today is quite cold day, winter, it's raining. Still, all parking spaces at the seafront are taken. Any idea where all these visitors will park up theirs cars? Some poor thinking guys...

  • I live in Redcar, its mostly filled with chavs and little kids who destroy every good thing we get. Redcar will never be this good:/ A gospel was built a while ago, everytime I walk past there on a Sunday, kids are ALWAYS upsetting the elders that actually care to go there. They set fire to parks and everything. We get this ^ no doubt they'll ruin it for the people who do care about their home.

  • To all you people that want a traditional pier, walk along the beach to saltburn!! and to all you people that say its a waste of money and pointless, i bet you will go to see it when its all done ehh? dont like the idea about it dont go down the beach, end off. + We need a new sea wall anyways. And if we ever did get flooded and your house was under water because of it you would have winged about redcar not building a sea wall! Just saying :)

  • About time something was done about Redcar seafront. It is a craphole, and no retail company worth their salt (apart from Poundland or the Charity Shops) would invest in the town in its current state as no one outside of Middlesbrough visits Redcar. I think the verticle pier looks great and will probably visit once its all done, which I would never have dreamed of doing previously because the seafront is a scruffy unattractive mess.

  • A vertical pier is fine but the priority should have been all the "virtual shops" in the high street. People will come to see the new attraction but won't return if there's no shops.

  • and fireworks i dont think so we couldnt even have them for bonfire night

  • as if the sun doesnt shine in redcar and still looks like a helter skelter to me what a waste of money when recar cant even fill the shops on the high street

  • Good presentation lets hope the local brain dead who spray paint everything and then call it art leave it alone Redcar has looked far to dated for a lot of years Saltburn is charming but Redcar has always needed a big kick up the arse to be a modern see side attraction
