After $1.3 billion in government contracts and controversy over the killing of innocent Iraqi civilians, Blackwater Worldwide is moving on. The Washington Post reported this week that Blackwater, the for-profit military company contracted by the Bush government to provide securities services in Iraq, will not have it's Iraq contract renewed. But the powerful military corporation has no plans to slow down after what has been an extraordinarily profitable decade. Nation contributor Jeremy Scahill, author of "Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army", discusses the legacy and future of Blackwater Worldwide, including its expansion into hot new markets: Chasing Somalian pirates, and total intelligence gathering.

  • Hold up, its wrong for Blackwater to profit on war and violence but it is perfectly okay for pirates to steal and kill for profit? Um, bullshit. And please tell me where your source on these pirates "giving back to the community" is. I wasnt aware that they published anual budgets.

Both are wrong, you're just bias. I swear, Americans love to try and romanticise the violent acts of the poor.

  • it sounds like this guy sympathizes with the pirates. Of course blackwater will help protect naval vessels and merchant ships. What the hell are the merchants supposed to do, just give up their goods and supplies?

  • S C U M S = OLD NAME

  • another One World Order

  • its not dangerous to work with other country smart ass if there our ally

  • @seekliberation your exactly right.Half of the video he is explaining why there are pirates doing what they do as if it justifies what they are doing. He might as well sign up with blackwater because hes no better then them if he talks like that.

  • this guy talks with a lot of charisma, seems like he almost is informed, at the same time PUSHING HIS AGENDA BLAMING BUSH.

Ive talked and walked the line with many fine US soldiers during my time in the military. All of those who have come back have said the same thing. They are restricted significantly and have to go through hell to perform their duties because of ROE. Blackwater is there for a reason, yes they dont have the same ROE. Stop blaming Bush for everything and grow up.

  • we should do what the chinese did. we should catch a couple of pirates. give them a trial. then shoot them on national television. they havent had a pirate problem sense

  • @Tetsaco Start the video at 1:10

He attempts to justify violence by saying they are poor. note that I do not support either side but this guy is comming at this topic with an agenda.

  • @GRKiller

You missed the point, I suggest you watch the video again.

At no point is there a moral justification for killing-for-profit.

The difference between Somalian pirates & Blackwater is the $1.3+Billion taxpayer funding and the lack of a legal judicial process where they'll be charged for crimes.

This is bad. The fact that the U.S. and multiple national power players have funded these organizations represents poor judgement in regards to human morality vs profits.

  • @HorChild You're retarded, aren't you?
