  • He is a great man. He came to visit in 2004. He was my idol and was very strange when I had to race him at the 1996 Olympics.

  • Xeno, what do you mean by very strange ?

  • It was strange to sit next to your rowing idol/god in 1996. Thomas was the unbeatable. I had to keep my composure and not think about who I am sitting at the line with. After all he was two time Olympic gold medalist, the ironman in person.

  • Great athlete, sad about his father, but hard to sympathise too much with a guy who laments something that brought misery to millions.

  • Dick Enberg and Mike Teti commentating. I always wondered if the '30 stroke per minute workout' referred to in the profile was a piece Lange just happened to be performing at that time or was it some sort of base training frequently performed. It's so hard to tell how intensely he is pulling during the sequence because it is so graceful.

Someday I expect Chalupa's head to be in a glass jar attached to another body making it's appearance in the M1X Final of the 2068 Games of the Olympiad.

  • a lot of europeans do it that way

  • Strange, when you have to race your "invincible" idol. Luckily Porter beat Lange in 1993, so we knew he was beatable....

  • Great video of best rower ever in my humble opinion...listen to his life story. i am certain he could have match or exceed Ivanov and Karpinnen achievements..his style is similar to Iavnoc..check it

  • right hand leader, interesting
