Personally I think japanese cars are stronger built than english ones, although brits have a wonderful traction, just like thr jeeps....
TRhere is no perfect 4 wd but a nissan patrol or a toyota with money invested on it is as reliable as an old strong mule..Patrol is hard as nails

LOL! Range Rovers can't handle Aussie comps unless they have a Japanese or Unimog driveline. Broken diffs and axles everywhere. Jeeps here occasionally, but they almost never win anything. No Fords or Chevs. No BMWs or Mercs.
Outside the comp scene, Landcruisers and Patrols are king in Australia. Almost noone takes a RR or a Disco into the outback. They just can't handle it. They break. I have a friend who went through 3 Discos before getting a 'Cruiser. Never again.
