Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons' December 1963 (Oh What A Night) (piano vocal cover)

A dancefloor favourite from my youth, I was reminded of this song by a friend whose husband took her to see "Jersey Boys" - a broadway documentary-musical about The Four Seasons. It's been a few years since I sat and figured out a rough approximation to the piano part to this song, but it's only on revisiting it now that I found myself able to play the rhythmic piano part and sing at the same time.

Aside from printing out the lyrics, this is from memory. The original accompaniment is a rich sonic landscape and I was only able to capture a small fraction of this in my piano playing. Any greater embellishment to my playing and I don't think I'd have been able to focus enough to sing the song too.

I wasn't able to recall how the accompaniment goes for the "Oh I, I got a funny feeling ..." bit, so I made something up. And I'm not convinced I got the chords right for the "Oh, I felt a rush..." part, but I'd need to listen to the original again. Long time no hear.

Probably the toughest song to sing and play that I've attempted. The vocals aren't up to much because I'm having to concentrate harder than I'd like... and I really must get the piano tuned (or get a new piano altogether).

Oh, to have an in-tune piano!! Mine is a half-step down-tuned as it's so old.

I actually have no idea what key it should be in. I just sat and played and for some reason this is the key I found myself in - though probably I worked it in the right key in the longtime past.

You're right, though. It could do with being higher. And some more forceful vocals. Also, I'm also a little disappointed that my camera positioning didn't highlight the bass line as much as I hoped..
