Alternator Teardown

Parts of the average car powered by the alternator include: Headlights, ignition coils/sparkplugs, electric engine cooling fans, air conditioning fans, windshield wipers, powered windows, radio, and anything else electric. Really what the alternator dose is recharge the battery while your vehicle is on. Now if your battery were to die on you, you could very well run all the electronics off the alternator. Not recommended though.
