if you ride the brake pedal half the time, you'll get low 40's mpg, you let the smart run at 55-60mph, you'll get 53mpg, i suspect the milage "sweet spot" is at 45-50mph with this car. i've had mine over 4 months and over 3000 miles, so it's almost "broken in".
