These were a series of photos that I took at the game. .
Shreveport, LA. - On Sunday, May, 24, 2011, the Alcorn State University Braves prevailed 12-6 over the Southern University Jaguars to win the school's first ever SWAC baseball championship at Fair Grounds field. Continuing on their offensive hot streak in which the Braves scored 39 runs in their first three games of the tournament, the Braves relied on their hot bats to pull out the victory.
On his way to being named the tournaments "most valuable player," designated hitter, Kilby Perdomo, hit his third homerun in four games to start the scoring effort for the Braves in the top of the first inning. Alcorn starting pitcher Brent Blaum, picked up the win in Sunday's game giving up 5 runs in 5.1 innings. Steve Easter closed out the game for the Braves and picked up the save.
The Jaguars attempted a bit of a rally in the bottom of the fourth inning but after a controversial call at the plate Southern University second baseman Diomedes Gonzalez and assistant coach Fernando Puebla were ejected from the game for arguing the call.
Great video!!!! Thanks for sharing. I just shared it with The Alcorn Baseball staff. Curious...what background music did you use?
