This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.

XIII is based off of a French comic book, and it's story parallels the Bourne Identity.

XIII is a cell shaded FPS game that beyond all the graphical flash, is a very fun shooter. It doesn't do anything particularly new, but it's a refined and fun experience. It's also got a good storyline as well.

It also has an online mode which very few people play on the PS2 online. I guess the biggest problem was the fact that the game doesn't support a USB headset, or a USB keyboard.

XII is also available on the Xbox, PC, Gamecube, and Mac

Here's the game's storyline from the official game site:

A man wakes up on a beach. He has no recollection of who he is.

He sets off in search of his past. His only clues are the number 13 tattooed on his collarbone and the key to a safety-deposit box in one of New York's most prestigious banks.

The passport he finds in the safe at the bank reveals his identity. His name is Steve Rowland and he's a captain in the United States army. Moments after making this discovery, he's arrested by colonel Amos, director of the FBI's anti-terrorist department and accused of the murder of William Sheridan, the 43rd president of the United States. In evidence, he's shown the enlargement of a snapshot in which he appears holding a sniper's rifle. The weapon is aimed at the presidential cortège. Despite this exhibit, in his heart of hearts he knows he's no murderer. All the same, when killers tried to eliminate him he was surprised to find he has the reflexes of an elite commando.

Wanted by all the cops in New York State and hunted down by The Mongoose , the amnesiac seems doomed to a choice of death or prison. But XIII hasn't counted on the unexpected assistance of major Jones, a young female soldier who helps him flee through the city of New York. During their escape, this foxy lady reveals to XIII that he's a secret agent working for general Carrington. Carrington is a nonconformist officer who is conducting a counter-inquiry into the presidential assassination but he was arrested and confined in an isolated military base in the Appalachian Mountains.

When XIII realizes that general Carrington is the only one who can shed light on his past, he sets off to find him with Jones.

  • Is XIII or Colde Winter better? Longer, more fun, better story? Thanks.

  • @26chickensslycooper I'd say get them both. Both are great in their own ways, and both should be extremely cheap to find nowadays.

  • Is this game more interesting than Turok: Evolution?

Which version is better - PS2, Xbox or GC? Controls, graphics?

    Thanks.

  • @IdentityUnknownYet The best version would no doubt be the PC version. As for the rest, the Xbox and GC version probably look slightly better, but for controls, it's really a matter of preference between the Dualshock and the Xbox controller (the GC controller isn't even in the running). The PS2 version also has online play which still on rare occasion has people playing. Just get the version that's the most convenient to get.

  • This game looks so good I bought it on amazon today. How many ps2 games do you own? Can you do a video to show us since there will probably not be many more new games.

  • @spiritsjoy I have over 300 PS2 games as present count, but I don't have a good video camera with which to do a collection vid. Plus, i have the face for radio, but not the voice.

  • This game right here is truly an underrated, overlooked ps2 diamond!!

  • I've got this game for pc. I'm frustrated, because at the end when fighting against the mongoose, it freezes. :( Stupid pc, but it's a very good and underrated game. C'mon, in some ratings a 7.3 ? This game deserves a 8 at least!

  • I love this game. I love everything about it and nothing is going to change my mind

  • The crossbow wss awesome. Very comic book like

  • This used to be my favorite game when I had a PS2

  • got this when it came out... fun game until the "stealth" levels. the game didn't implement those too well and they were hard as hell, i never actually completed it.

  • One of my most favorite games ever! Truly original.Pure fun but still very challenging

  • Definitely looks awesome! :)

  • I ordered this game for $0.04 off Amazon. The shipping was $3.99, so I spent about $4 total. I can't wait.

  • one of the worst endings ever

  • For people in the UK, CeX has this preowned for a £1. You can order it online and as long as you spend a minimum of £2 you can get it delivered to you free. I just ordered this and Medal Of Honor Frontline, looking forward to playing them both again.
