  • Sorry to burst your bubble, but OCD Intrusive thoughts are of a mental disorder, you can go on and on about how they are not and just a behavioral disorder but they are a MENTAL DISORDER PERIOD.

  • OCD is the fourth most common mental disorder, and is diagnosed nearly as often as asthma and diabetes mellitus.[1] In the United States, one in 50 adults suffers from OCD.[2] Obsessive–compulsive disorder affects children and adolescents as well as adults. Roughly one third to one half of adults with OCD report a childhood onset of the disorder, suggesting the continuum of anxiety disorders across the life span.

  • should i get these intrusive thoughts checked out or what?

  • Ive been dealing with this for months, the guilt is killing me.

  • @kenroy916 I am glad that you are doing better! It's very good to not give the OCD any power.

  • @TheFrancescaViolin Thanks I really appreciate your comment! I have yet to seek out therapy but I've been on meds for some time now. They have been with me for so long that I don't get all worked up over them and they eventually fade away.

  • @kenroy916 I understand what you are going through. I suffered with this for a long, long time. The thoughts are irrational and just the OCD. Never think that these thoughts are you. If you try to fight them, they will get worse. It seems so, so, so real at the time--when you have the thoughts--but they are not. I recommend CBT, for it truly worked for me. I wish you the best, best of luck. Living with OCD is quite a struggle, but never, ever give up hope!!!!!!!!!

  • @Illuminatus42 Thats very unfortunate so this just started for you? Well the only thing i can do is offer some advice. First DO NOT search the internet looking for answers because it will only make it worse. Secondly accept that they are your thoughts and that nothing evil within you is causing them. This allows you to realize that your mind is actually not the bad guy and neither are you. This will save you alot of anxiety trust me. I really hope this helps!! Keep the faith no matter what!!

  • @kenroy916 A year? I've had intrusive thoughts (at least, that's what I hope they are, but I'm not sure and that terrifies me) of a to me disgusting sexual nature for a week, and I can only imagine what it must've been like for you. I hope you're feeling better now. :)

  • I have huge problems with this. Dr. Bjorgvinsson rocks (not like I do when I'm anxious), in other words, he's an excellent clinician.
