Well, we had relatives in Dusseldorf when British /American bastards firebombed over a million women and children in a non-military city at the very end of the war as a revenge request by the British. Completely unnecessary and horrific.

@BobColorado1 Regarding the fire bombing of German cities, it is a black mark on the history of American & British arms, though the Nazis bombed civilians in Warsaw, Rotterdam, London, & many other British cities. I understand all of the technical, political, and emotional factors behind the allied decision to burn down cities and slaughter thousands of innocents, but it still looks very bad. This does not excuse the NAZI atrocities, but it still troubles thoughtful Brits & Yanks to this day.

It is always ironic for me as a Dutchman to experience how Prussians do know about the rule of international law and of The Hague Land Warfare conventions and the 1929 Geneva Conventions. Of course I am merely pointing out the beam in the eye of the so-called Allied victorious powers, pointing to the spak in the Axis' eyes. Not to say that the Axis Powers and Japan committed no war crimes. They did. Modern warfare is not heroic at all mostly. Hurting civilians.
