where do you look for those crayons that you can paint with? they seem to work better than my water color pencils

@9serenity99 They are Caran D'Ache Neo color 2 water soluble wax pastels - available from good art shops. The gesso or white acrylic is used to blend them and give a more painterly look.

can I ask why you dont use those H20 brushes that have the water built into them? do they not work for this type of thing? i am just learning to do this and always see you with a paint brush... so I was wondering... and since you are the Queen of mixed media art, I thought I would ask :)

@cheri7495 Re. water pens - I do have a water pen, but rarely use it as you have far less control over the amount of water that goes onto your paper, so I prefer the old fashioned way for detail work, like on the dress form. On larger areas like the background it would be more useful, but you would need to keep refilling it. Lots of people like them though, it's all personal preference. If you are thinking of getting one, avoid the cheap ones as they often leak.
