The University of Virginia holds its annual legislative forum ahead of the 2012 General Assembly Session. Senator Creigh Deeds, Senator-elect Bryce Reeves, Delegate Rob Bell and Delegate David Toscano attend. U.Va. President Teresa Sullivan makes opening remarks and moderates the session.

Legislators attending the session agree that budget challenges will garner the most attention at the upcoming session. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell proposes $100 million in funding for higher education in Virginia. He also proposes more than a $2.2 billion payback to the Virginia Retirement System, which totals about a tenth of what's needed to restore VRS accounts following state borrowing over many years. Both proposals would impact the University community and its workers.
