How do you snap your wrist, is there a video on how to snap the wrist?
-
@racquetballtim thanks... I can't see the ball hit the floor or hear it squeak... even in the slo-mo ...I'll take your word for it... but I still don't think it was his position on the court that causes him to hit the floor... he is straddling the receiving line and the ball is near knee high on it's descent ... I think it was more his 'open' stance that cause him to miss the shot and possibly he was not watching the ball but had is head and eyes down court.

Yes, his wrist snap has always been a problem for him. It's gotten a lot better since this clip, but he doesn't generate enough power because off his lack of wrist snap.
Pause the video at 21 seconds, which is about the time his opponent is hitting his shot, and look at the server's court positioning. This is what I mean by being stuck in the service box messing up your timing.
The best players in the world get behind the dotted line in lightning speed to maximize their court coverage.

i dont know about timing but it seems to me his error was not snapping his wrist
the server won the volley, he served, the ball was returned high, the server kept his opponent back and in the left, then passed the ball on the right and won the volley... I don't see anything about him being stuck in the service box.

@ToothCentral Thanks for the comment. The server skipped his shot, so the returner won the rally. Not sure if you missed that in the video.
If you pause the video right at the moment the returner is hitting his shot (around the 22 second mark), look where the server has relocated to. He's way in front of the dotted line, when he should be a foot or 2 behind it, down and ready, looking to pounce. He's too far forward and will not be able to cover an easy pass, or set his feet properly.

behind the dotted line? what if the returner tries to kill it?

Yes, behind the dotted line. That's where the pros play as well because they know that they will get to more than 70% of the shots from that position (any pass, any shot left up, and ceiling ball, etc). They are willing to give up the kill shot, which is a much lower percentage shot.
You can't cover everything. Give up the kills, cover the passes, and watch your game sore. Just like the pros.
Thanks for the question.

thanks man, this changes how i think about things

No problem at all. And you'd be surprised at how often I hear that, lol.
Remember, kills are more difficult to hit, and passes are easier. So basically, you're saying to your opponent "you'll have to hit a difficult shot to beat me, because I'll cover your easy ones".
Good luck, and take care.
