  • From a moralistic viewpoint, the mandatory death penalty may undermine human dignity and compassion. However, in Singapore, I feel that a more pragmatic viewpoint should be assumed; that is, the deterrence factor against drug smuggling/trafficking should take precedence over the notion of moral supremacy. Therefore, I support the mandatory death penalty.

Kudos to TOC for this unbiased interview.

  • im telling u there is nothing more cruel than mandatory death sentence besides murder....the real murderers are the governments who allow this strict n evil laws to continue in singapore without a taught of consideration n heart.....heartless pple or creatures can i say that? :)

  • Whoa. It sounds as if Toa Payoh heartlanders are more liberal than Orchard Road youth.

  • While the auntie knows the drug law for mandatory death penalty, it is good that her view that offenders deserve a second chance to rehabilitate clearly resonated with her. It's heartening to know that we still have people in our society who are not so heartless to follow the wicked.
