@ivangrozny27 Erm 3 years is a long time and that was an ageing team, Gazza wasn't the same as he was after 1991 (despite Euro 96). Walker waqs struggling for form in Italy and had lost pace. Platt and Adams were still class, I think Taylor made some shocking tactical areas, particulary Norway away. But you are right when you say about the so called golden generation for all the hype fared little better in big tournaments!!.

@nickslick75 and yet the current 'golden' generation arent much better. Yes they qualify for tournaments regularly but that's it. And that group of players had some real quality like Platt, Gazza, Ince and Adams. This was only 3 years after reaching the WC semis

The utter shiteness of the players Taylor had to deal with are summed up in the words "Tony Dorigo is coming in for Martin Keown". Graham Taylor is not a bad manager, but you can't turn shit into gold.

@odsall surely the definition of a crap player at international level is one who isn't an international standard player? That's the point!
