@angloengland You are correct and wise. I wish all people in the United States could understand this. While many do, many think that a combination natural disaster/governmental ineptitude could never happen to them. Truth be told, the latter did much more damage than the former.

They could have made the levees bigger as I believe was recommended before the disaster. Following this I believe that the levees were only proposed to be repaired and not improved.

A hurricane is a natural disaster. There's nothing we could have done but evacuated and not bombed the levees!
