You can now root the NOOK Tablet and install the Google Android Market. There are still some caveats though.

  • @NottyGurlStyle You can make one yourself (which is pretty easy, just look up some tutorials on here), or you could buy one probably on eBay. It's easier just to make one.

  • @TheAverageTurtle-Yeah I did see that in an article I was reading. Do you know where I could get this special SDcard?

  • @NottyGurlStyle You know you could root it via SD card without having to worry about firmware, right?

  • I would like to root my Nook Tab, but i don't know how and I don't want to chance it. I had everything before the stupid update and now it's all gone. I'm fed up with these OTA updates...

  • does anybody know if the current nook tablets are shipping with the 1.4 update? because if so, it seems i'm already at a loss at rooting since i won't be able to block it. am i better off buying a nook color now so i definitely can root for full android experience? because ease of rooting is going to be my deciding factor...thanks!

  • Any progress on the apps not showing up in Market? I can see Angry Birds Seasons, but no other Angry Birds, lol. The issue is I am never sure whether there is no such app or whether my results are being filtered.

  • can someone please help me i have a nook tablet and every thing i try to revert it back to 1.4 isnt working can someone help me

    please respond

  • @shawnki91 Of course, read up about this first and proceed with risk!

  • Hi Brad,

    The reason why you are not seeing all apps in the market, is a restriction imposed by the "digital footprint" of the device. You just need to change the footprint of the device to something more compatible with the market such as the Nexus S. You can edit two lines of code in the "build.prop" file at the "/" directory of the device. Change the following strings

    ro.product.model = Nexus S

    ro.product.manufacturer = samsung

    I've tried this before and it works, but always have a backup!

  • @SuperNotSerious yes, you can brick the tablet.
