Same mistake as last time — Roads ACT seemed to conveniently "forget" to let us know about a bridge demolition, for the second time in a row, and carried it out at an hour and a day when they think no-one is watching — not even anyone walking their dog or jogging by the lake.
Shown on ABC News Canberra on Saturday (13/11/2010), Roads ACT carried out a controlled demolition of another bridge at the Glenloch Interchange as part of the Gungahlin Drive Extension project.
See the WIN News clip at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYaw1Ol8jn4 for the last SECRET demolition......
The only difference between this and the last undercover operation was the hour in which they did this, so there was none of the traffic disruption like the previous one.
---------------
A partial article appears on The Canberra Times website at http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/early-morning-blast-f... which says this operation was carried out with a 1km exclusion zone and "under strict security"!!!
Respect is not playing sneaky games under cover of darkness at 5am in the morning.

@CanberraUser You have no idea what you're talking about.

JBofBrisbane: Let me clarify to save you assuming.
There must be something wrong, something sick, something is broken, if they have to go to all that trouble to sneak around, too afraid of being watched. This is how they are treating the TAXPAYING public with contempt.
We pay our taxes, we expect a little bit more respect than this.

So a bridge was demolished by explosives with no publicity and under cover of darkness so crowds would not come out to watch it - so f@#%ing what?
"Culture of secrecy" - methinks you worry too much about things you have no control over.

No worries Mothfilms. It is ridiculous we all have to suffer a culture of secrecy because of an accident that took place in 1997 and being held like a monkey on their backs for the rest of Canberra's existance. The RCH demolition is nothing but a convenient scapegoat to spoil all our fun. The culture of secrecy is unacceptable and I am sick of the 1997 RCH implosion being used as an excuse to justify this secrecy again and again and again....

I don't usually comment on Youtube Videos, and I am not a full supporter of the current or really even recent ACT governments, but I only wanted to point out that possibly why this demolition was not advertised for public viewing was because of the 1997 Hospital Implosion where a girl was killed thanks to a demolition gone wrong. This may have not been the only reason, but I am sure it would have been a contributing factor. Thanks for uploading the video though!
