  • How high could you go,using this method.?I need somthing substancial

  • @toeblarone Hi there,

    You can build fairly high using this method of construction, however you may need to look into your local building regulations to see what your council require in a retaining wall to the height you intend on building.

    Specific engineering may be required also depending on a few things, including height, surcharge and other things like water flow etc. If for example the wall has quite large surcharge behind it, you may need to increase the thickness of the post.

  • Just a query regarding the treatment chemicals used to treat the pine; does this leach into the soil or groundwater l? is it safe for children to play on and around? i am thinking of using these sleepers around a vegetable garden; how safe is that?  and can it disrupt micro organisms in the soil? Thanks.
