@tricesimo its heavily influenced by Take 5 (made famous by the Dave Brubeck Quartet) :) i play drums in church and we did this song last week... its so fun to play because of the time signature switch in each measure.

I call this the "Brubeck Hymn" because it's 5/4 time! ;-)

I have heard an up beat version with drums as it so lively.

We had this our wedding. I think it's just the best hymn ever. Sadly no-one knew it at our wedding and it sounded rubbish. The organ was great though.

I LOVED this song when I was a little kid. I still do in fact. My church is singing this this Sunday (August 9, 2009) but I went to a different church so I didn't get to sing it unfortunately.
I am a Protestant, but due to my work schedule, I worshiped at a Catholic church one Sunday morning. I heard this song, and fell in love with it! My wife plays flute, I play piano, and my 12-year-old son plays drums on this song. It's become one of our signature pieces! GREAT job singing and playing! :-)
