I purchased a 1957 220S Cabriolet in 1972 in Frankfurt Germany for $1600.00! Germans thought I was crazy to pay 6000 marks for a 15 year old car. What a beautiful car. Unfortunately it was also prone to rust and with a unibody construction had a lot of nooks and crannies to hold dirt and water. Couldn't bring it home with me so I sold it for $1400.00 cash, an American station wagon and Bechstein grand piano. I came out OK but really miss that car.

Looks good but the car is sitting much too high and there's excessive positive camber on the rear suspension. I suspect that the suspension was done incorrectly, either the wrong springs or something related. I have seen this problem quite often on older mercs. Got to be careful. With the rear suspension at this camber, it must be nasty to drive, especially at speed in turns.

@fairvoice The car was not completely finished at this point and the high rear end was noted, trust me.
