In a Hawaii Reporter story published Dec 2011, the total cost (based on what is known) for a 17-day round trip vacation to Hawaii for the President and his family and staff and security is an estimated $4,113,038.
That includes $3,629,622 for separate travel for the president and his family, $151,200 for housing for security, $72,216 for staff to stay in one of Hawaii’s most luxurious resorts, the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki, and local police protection and ambulance detail for $260,000.

You should watch more than just the news that fuels your fire. Obama is not yet President. He has said a nbr of times that there can only be one president at a time. That man worked for 2+ years with nary a break. There is no more wrong with him taking the holidays off than you.
If you have a gripe, make it a good one or keep it to yourself...unless you want to continue to appear ridiculous.

Obama's security for his Christmas visit has been increased considerably compared to his August visit.
