  • Excellent video, great message and lots of fun playing off the Mac / PC format.

But what is the deal with some of these posts? Lots of angry folks out there. Do yourself a favor, drop your bank an find a CU in your community. Don't like the one you're with, find another. Focus on products you use, especially on lending side (credit cards in particular as you use that loan product an average of 15 times a month) -- and make sure fee structure is reasonable. Then move your business there!

  • I am sorry to hear that your government insurance program does not work as well as our NCUA in the US.

  • Most CU's are non-pofit, and therefore give you better rates on interest, loans, and credit cards.

Banks take their profit centers, I mean......account holders, for a nice ride.

I know because I used to work for the bank

  • FYI, blognewb, CUNA sided with the ABA in opposing broader consumer protection in the financial services industry. CUNA also sides with the banking industry in its support for tougher bankruptcy legislation, another anti-consumer stance.

I worked at CUNA Mutual during the time that it transformed itself from an employee-friendly company to a virulent union-busing racket under Phillips T. Kimball, Jr.

So I know of what I speak when I say that CU's in the US are little different from banks, .

  • @xenonman uh you are insane. CUs are very well regulated and are owned by the members, not stockholders. They are also NCUA insured. So keep storing your money under the bed.

  • It's all a bunch of crap!

In the US, at least, there ain't no difference between CU's and banks.

    They both support anti-consumer legislation!

  • @KamisamanoOtaku

We're in agreement that both share the responsibility, perhaps in disagreement about who gets the brunt of the blame, but still in agreement that It's an issue of corruption.

That being said, Credit Unions weren't responsible for this mess, Credit Unions weren't advertising bad loans and giving them out at their leisure. Thus I can concluded that Credit Unions are more fiscally responsible than for profit corporations like banks.

  • @NinjaJedi

If a politician is bribed to do something wrong and does it, that is still that politician's fault.

The people pressuring for those dumb laws were special interest groups and political parties, not banks. They may have been good intentioned, but they got the government involved in the housing market, and THAT is where our current financial mess with the banks started. Banks were required to make BAD home loans, and some just figured out how to profit from it. Some guilt, not all.

  • @KamisamanoOtaku

And who do you think bribes politicians to pass those dumb laws and block laws that would have prevented it? The Banks...

Don't blame the government for the market's own failure.

  • @NinjaJedi

Kind of ignoring the governments role in that. You know, setting idiotic laws and regulations and basically messing with the banking sector in ways that were generally quite stupid.

  • Bank = GLaDOS ?

He should say : First you will be baked, and then therre will be cake.
