Lady Chatterley's Lover'
by D. H. Lawrence
read by Emilia Fox

5 hours Audio - CSA Word Audio Books ( UK )

Lady Chatterley's Lover is a novel by D. H. Lawrence written in 1928.
Printed privately in Florence in 1928, it was not printed in the United Kingdom until 1960 (other than in an underground edition issued by Inky Stephensen's Mandrake Press in 1929).[1] Lawrence considered calling this book Tenderness at one time and made significant alterations to the original manuscript in order to make it palatable to readers. It has been published in three different versions.
The publication of the book caused a scandal due to its explicit sex scenes, including previously banned four-letter words, and perhaps because the lovers were a working-class male and an aristocratic female.
The story is said to have originated from events in Lawrence's own unhappy domestic life, and he took inspiration for the settings of the book from Ilkeston in Derbyshire where he lived for a while. According to some critics the fling of Lady Ottoline Morrell with "Tiger," a young stonemason who came to carve plinths for her garden statues also influenced the story

  • I love Emilia Fox's voice <3

  • Listen to her reading "Why Didn't they Ask Evans", Agatha Christie. I am listening to it for the second time, among my favorite AC, and I have listened or read most of them. I expect her voice may have something to do about it. So clear and expressive, and she captures the "Nick and Nora" type of relation between Bobby and Lady Frances so perfectly in that audio book, very gifted lady.

  • Love you Emilia! Youve got a great voice and talent :)

  • Now if only the entire audio book was uploaded somewhere for free listening. This little teaser got my interest rather well.

  • emilia fox is a stupid product of our country. She has no meaning other than her acting, but probably will influence future generations. it sort of upsets me that people like this have media coverage. people like her will be remembered for nothing, and appreciated only by the likes of Graham Norton and the TV they use to corrupt.

  • You are a british flower my darling. I love u.

  • She misses some of the words in her reading...=s
