Jean Michel Jarre at young age, performing his Oxygene IV in the Dutch television show 'TopPop'.
Notice his random play on the keyboards, an obvious playback performance, much more common back in 1978.
At the time, his performance with all the synthesizers alone gave the audience a huge enough impression. Many even wondered how he could perform the song all by himself.
Images enhanced in colour, sharpness and contrast and soundtrack remastered for better clearity and stereo imaging.

I remember this on the TV as a very young child, it would have been the early 80s but I remember seeing a lot more lights, lazers, smoke, the works and what seemed to be a hell of a big keyboard like he was in concert. Thats probably why I remember it but I can't seem to find it here on yt.

I think he really play live, it depends what instruments you use.
He certainly don't use tape play back ! JMJ is a real musician .

@keyboardjeff my bad... but he used seq from arp 2500 and modular moog... i should say: cv in\out not midi :)

@quicklynn none of the original synthesizers used on oxygene had midi, because midi came about 5 or 6 years later.

The audio part of this video is questionable. It is in stereo and I don't think any country did transmit stereo sound in 1978.
But still, it wouldn't have been possible for JMJ to play all the instruments. But he could have played some parts, with the rest being played back by tape.
But we can't know since this video probably hasn't got the sound that was originally in the tv-programme (it should have been in mono).

@MrModulator Indeed it is questionable because it is re-edited. The original soundtrack sounded very poor (and mono actually). I've remastered the sound , made it 'quasi' stereo (electronically rechanneled) and enhanced the video itself (denoise, color adjust etc.). Intended to give the poor quality VHS tape a 'second life'.

That is correct, also see the the full description I made. Back in 1978 it was much more common to playback; in our view now it seems so obvious, almost like 'fake'play. Just a wonderful, vintage performance.
