  • Here is something else no one likes to admit.

Everyone likes to play "Made in the USA" when it is convenient to sell products. Well if you're making cars that essentially fall apart at 60, 70, 80,000 miles and the Japanese are making cars that go to 170, 200, 250,000 miles don't you think if you were a business you would want to emulate that rather than piss and moan about it.

Build me an American car that is a Nissan, Toyota or Honda quality and I will buy the god damn thing.

  • GM has always made junk and is going under because of overpaid union stoodges who cost them too much money. I have a 71 GTO and it's far from a well made car.

GM sold almost as many cars as Toyota did last year, it was their profit margin that cost them dearly. You dont need unions today, you did in 1920. Get rid of those overpaid lazy guys who do'nt assemble cars correctly.

  • @gfp163 it sure as hell did not help Government Motors. And yes, it helped sell Jap cars. Real stupid waste of American dollars. Another example of this Marxist who wants to control everything.

  • @BoomerNavy70 By the way, the completely wasteful cash for clunkers program has nothing to do with any differemces between American and foreign cars.

  • @BoomerNavy70 Cars that fall apart at 60, 70, 80,000? Not true, unless you're trashing and abusing. It's more like 170, 200, 250,000 miles would apply to practically any late model car with a reasonable amount of routine care.

  • @Bag0fRats We don't need unions now and we didn't need the unions in 1971, but in spite of all that, in 1971 you would rather have a 71 Toyota of any kind over a 71 GTO? The Toyotas were junk, remember? They've improved dramatically since then, but the American cars have improved as well.

  • And now the Government Motors CEO wants to push gas tax for another $1/gal.

  • The unmitigated chutzpah here is so blinding that I don’t just need sunglasses to protect my eyes. I need blackout curtains. This bee bee brain Obama blames Congress for Demcare bribery & sabotage of transparency. As if Rahm & all the senior goons in the White House weren’t twisting arms & cracking heads to ensure that the Helth Care deal met their boss’s timeline. As if the Cadillac tax break for unions hadn’t been hashed out at 1600 Pennsylvania. He thinks all americans R like Lordkaisen
