This is Harry Nilsson's recording of "Mucho Mungo," which, I believe, he and John Lennon co-wrote. I may be wrong about that, but I've seen this song credited to them both.
At any rate, it's a truly amazing song. I'd say a masterpiece.

Mucho mungo, sweet thing
Sweetest little thing I've ever seen
It must have been a sweet dream
Brought you here
Brought you through the sorrow
And the tears

C'est la, c'est la
C'est la vie
Sail upon the ocean
Sail with me
Sail into tomorrow everyday
Looking for the sunshine
Through the haze

But wait, what's this I see?
Could it be...

Mt. Elga, Mt. Elga
A high mountain
I climb as I'm dreaming
Mt. Elga, Mt. Elga
A high mountain
I climb as I'm dreaming
Catching me hell
To climb this hill
The more I try to climb
I'm slipping still

Me body run down
Me feeling weak
The more I try to climb up
This mountain peak

Mucho mungo, sweet thing
Sweetest little thing since sweet sixteen
C'est la, c'est la
C'est la vie
Sail across the ocean
Sail with me...

  • @pilkingtonfreak Maybe because it's quite similar to "beautiful boy"?

  • @paranormal33 excelent reply !!!!

  • @apeshitdig

    How about Lennon and McCartney?

  • This version appears on Harry's 1974 Pussy Cats album, which Lennon produced, in case anyone is wondering.

  • the first two stanzas were written by john lennon alone, theres a great version on the lennon lost tapes where hes teaching it to harry. harry wrote the crappy parts " wait, whats this...."

  • very cool

  • I have been very impressed now.

I heard it after an interval of about 35 years.

    It only listened once.

This song was existence of the phantom for a long time until today.

    Now, it became clear existence.

    Thank you very much.

    Thanks Youtube.

  • I believe it's a combination of John's "Much Mungo" and Nilsson's "Mt. Elga".
